Aamir Khan to direct Amitabh Bachchan in sci-fi flick

Aamir Khan is secretly planning a big budget sci-fi flick for which he has approached legend Amitabh Bachchan to co-star.

Apparently, the two actors met at the recently held premiere of Jaane Tu… Ya Jaane Na and shared interest in acting alongside each other. Amitabh was impressed by Aamir’s debut directorial Taare Zameen Par and then the rigorous promotion of Jaane Tu… Ya Jaan Na.

Aamir then immediately went to his laptop and started drafting a story for which he is now seeking a script writer.

Aishwarya Rai was Will Smith's first choice for 'Hancock'

The gorgeous Indian actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was Will Smith's first choice for 'Hancock' over Oscar winning Charlize Theron but the actress declined.

Smith, who by his own admission is a great fan of Ash, is not disappointed and believes that they will share good on screen chemistry."I would love to work with Aishwarya. She is gorgeous. I had even offered her roles with me. In fact for 'Hancock' also she was my first preference over Charlize," he said in an e-mail interview.

The actor is still hopeful that would work together in future.

"I received denials all the times, may be she had some justified problems. But of course, I will do anything to work with Aishwarya," says a hopeful Smith.

The 'Independence Day' actor, whose latest superhero flick 'Hancock' is all set to release in India today is also a huge fan of Indian films industry and is currently exploring possibilities of working in an Indian film.

Smith is in love with Bollywood and believes that the future of international cinema lies in a conjugal tie between the world's two largest entertainment industries.

"I think a marriage between Bollywood and Hollywood would yield outstanding results," Smith said.

"I would love to work in an Indian film. I have seen a couple of Bollywood movies, which had impressed me a lot. I also had a word with Karan Johar . Let's see what's there in store," says the actor.

"I love Indian cinema and its actors. Their energy level is just incompatible. The songs and dances in Bollywood movies are just amazing," he added.

Ask about his favourite Indian actors, and Smith, who was last seen in the much acclaimed 'Pursuit of Happiness' comes up with a list of top most actors in Bollywood. Of course, Ash figures on top followed by Amitabh Bachchan and Shahrukh Khan .

"Amitabh Bachchan is a rocking man. Witnessing him and his mania all over India, I too have decided to rename myself to Big W. Shah Rukh Khan is another actor who is a great buzz there," says Smith.

Already popular among Indian cine-fans, the actor is all praise for the Indian audience and hopes his latest flick will also enjoy similar love from them.

"I thank them with all my heart for watching my films with a keen interest and hope the same for 'Hancock' too. Indian audience are very sensible and I expect that my film will receive warmth in manifolds."

Touched by Indian hospitality, Smith says he had a fun time during his last visit here and would love to visit India again.

"I received a lot of love and a hearty welcome from all in India. I would surely love to be back to India and try and deal out something really good.

"The one word which I could learn very easily and which touched my heart is for all the Indians -- Namastey India," he says.

In 'Hancock', Smith plays the character of a superhero who saves countless lives but in the due course also unwittingly inflicts jaw-dropping damages to public property.

Directed by renowned Hollywood film director Peter Burg 'Hancock' is an action genre made on a budget of over USD 150 million. Oscar winning actress Charlize Theron and actor Jason Bateman also star in the movie.

Dulha Mil Gaya’s main stars are Sushmita Sen, Tara Sharma and Fardeen Khan.

Prachi Desai Bags Abbas-Mustan's Film Life Partner

Prachi Desai
By now its common knowledge that TV actress Prachi Desai (of Kasamh Se fame) is all set to make her Bollywood debut opposite Farhan Akhtar in Rock On. However, even before her debut film hits the screens; Prachi has already bagged her next film.

The buzz has it that Prachi has been signed as one of the female leads in Abbas-Mustan's home production Life Partner. The film which stars Fardeen Khan, Govinda, Tusshar Kapoor and Genelia D'Souza is directed by Rumi Jaffrey. Prachi confirmed this piece of news. "Yes, I have signed the film but it's too early to talk about it. I can't reveal many details about Life Partner. All I can say is that when I heard the script, I loved it and am happy that I am a part of it," signed off the bubbly actress.

With two big banner films on hand, looks like Prachi is all set to kick-start her Bollywood career with a bang.

Aamir Khan signed as brand ambassador for Tata Sky

The good times seem to continue for actor-producer-director Aamir Khan. After having impressed one and all with his directorial venture Taare Zameen Par last year, Aamir has managed to deliver yet another hit as a producer with his nephew Imran's launch film Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na.

What's more, Aamir who is currently enjoying the success of Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na has also been roped in by DTH operator Tata Sky as its brand ambassador. The 'Perfectionist' Khan would feature in all Tata Sky brand and product communications including advertisements in T.V, print and radio.

An interesting fact is that Tata Sky's main rival, Dish TV, has Shah Rukh Khan as its brand ambassador. In the past too, Aamir and SRK have endorsed competitive products like Nokia & Samsung mobiles and Coke & Pepsi to name a few. Well, with this endorsement, the competition between the two Khans only heats up as Aamir would now be seen more frequently on the T.V. screens.

Imran Khan maybe pranky but he can’t forget perfection!

Imran Khan
Imran Khan Making a successful debut with Jaane Tu…Ya Jaane Na, Imran Khan may look like a simple, quiet and cute boy, but in reality this youngster is indeed very mischievous. While shooting for the film, the actor made life hell for his co-star Manjari Fadnis by his scary pranks.

“Imran is a prankster on the sets. We had a ball, all of us,” says Manjari, recollecting the time when Imran scared her out of her wits in an eerie villa where they were shooting by making ghostly noises in the dark.

“I am not the type that gets easily scared by the word ‘ghosts’. I have read a lot on after-life, But this was one experience that really made me scream,” she grins recollecting the event.

Well, everything is right while it’s done by stars and it’s more so while there is someone like uncle Aamir behind you all the while. But there is something that Imran should always take care of. Guess what? As uncle Aamir doesn’t like anything which is not perfect to the core and he is the man behind making Imran a superstar, Imran should at least keep playing on the chord of perfectionist in everything he does. Even while plotting a prank!

Akshay Kumar and Sanjay Dutt’s underwater stunt

http://desi-galaxy.sabza.org/wp-content/akshay-kumar-chest-shaved.jpg

Sajay DuttAkshay Kumar seems to be the perfect choice by Colours for hosting their upcoming reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi. This dare devil, who’s known for performing dangerous stunts in his films, had a close encounter with an accident which would have proved fatal. Another actor who was accompanying Akshay in this dangerous stunt was our very own Sanjay Dutt.

The two Bolly-stars accompanied by their photographer Peter Zuccarini were filming an underwater scene in Bahamas while a ship blasted to create special effects for their upcoming film Blue, produced by Shree Ashtavinayak Cinevision and directed by Anthony D’Souza. Even though Akki, Sanju and the photographer were fifty feet under the sea, they felt the burning sensation and had to quit shooting and come out of the water.

Sanjay Dutt ditches Kangana Ranaut for a film opposite Aishwarya Rai

Sanjay DuttSanjay Dutt has left the makers of his yet untitled film opposite Kangana Ranaut in the lurch after an offer from Mani Ratnam for a film opposite Aishwarya Rai, also starring Abhishek Bachchan. Sanjay was committed to do the candy floss romantic film produced by T-Series film starring Kangana which was being directed by the duo Vinay Sapru – Radhika Rao who had earlier directed Lucky - No Time for Love (2005) for T-Series. The T-Series film was to be shot extensively in the US with also some portions to be filmed in India.

While the T-Series production house officials are maintaining a brave stand by telling us that Dutt is still “on” for their project, Dharam Uberoi, his business manager, has stated that he was never confirmed for the T-Series film. Our sources, however, confirm that Dutt has no inclinations to do the T-Series film anymore.

Our sources reveal, “Dutt was not the first choice for the role. South superstar Vikram was chosen for the part by Mani. But the not so exciting response to the Abhi-Aish jodi in Sarkar Raj made Mani rethink. Instead of opting for a completely unknown star for Bollywood along with the couple he decided to go in for Sanjay Dutt and reduce the business risk for the film.”

“Dutt jumped at this opportunity by a maker like Mani Ratnam immediately and committed to the film without even going through the script. He allotted all the committed dates of his T-Series film to this film,” the source adds.

This will be the third time Sanjay Dutt be starring opposite Aish. He was earlier seen opposite her in Hum Kissi Se Kum Nahi (2002) and Shabd (2005). Both of these were massive flops at the box office!

Scared Harman Rescued By Priyanka

Scared Harman Rescued By Priyanka
Gone are those days when the actresses were found screaming for their lives and whoosh…there came the hero to rescue and protect them. With the changing time, the situations have changed too. Heroes now stick to their brave and beautiful girlfriends for protection, of which, the most recent example is Harman Baweja. While shooting in Bangkok, Harman recently handed Priyanka Chopra a loose python as he was too scared to hold it. When asked about this, the actor went red and said,

“They handed over the python to me and I handed it to Priyanka and she took it. I’m thankful to her for that, because I’m not too excited about holding Pythons in my hands. But you know when you have that thing hissing in front of your eyes — it’s quite scary.”

Well, nice that the guy had his bold and beautiful girlfriend for defence.

Bachchans to produce 'Pa'

The refreshingly different CHEENI KUM released more than a year ago, but even before the film could hit the screens, Balki had expressed a desire to work with Big B again. "He's addictive. Once you work with him, it's difficult to look elsewhere," Balki had remarked then.

Balki had plans of bringing the father and son duo of Amitabh and Abhishek Bachchan in PA. Well, the dream has finally realized, for A.B. Corp has decided to produce the project. Also, besides the Bachchans, Balki has also confirmed Vidya Balan and Paresh Rawal for pivotal roles.

"We begin filming in February next year and hope to wrap up the shoot by May. PA deals with the father-son relationship," Balki divulges. Sunil Manchanda and Balki will execute the project.

Rakhi finally bags a posh Yashraj Film

Rakhi Sawant bags Yash Raj film, makeover by Manish Malhotra
Rakhi Sawant is about to be turned into a typical Yashraj heroine. And the man given the seemingly-impossible job is Manish Malhotra.

After creating a constant stir off screen with her mediatized antics Rakhi Sawan's career as a film actor is finally moving forward.

Cutting across the state of stagnancy brought on by her item-girl image Rakhi has now bagged a full-fledged dramatic role in Yashraj Films' new film being directed by debutant Anurag Singh. The film also stars Rani Mukherjee and Shahid Kapoor.

Rakhi can't stop purring and preening. "So far my career in movies didn't take off because I don't have a lobby to support and sign me. That's the only explanation I have.

Lekin mere peeche junta ka haath hai. People love Rakhi Sawant. Now I've finally got a film I'm proud of with the best banner Yashraj.

After this I'm sure I'm going to flooded wuth good offers, and not just to do item songs, although I've no godfather on the film industry."

Rakhi is excited about working with Rani."She's my favourite actress. I love Rani. She's a superstar but so normal. I'm going to take blind instructions from Rani about how to do my scenes. And I've no ego about it."

It wouldn't be improper to here point out that Rani Mukherjee had borrowed many of Rakhi's mannerisms and speech patterns to play the tart with a golden heart in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Saawariya.

Rakhi starts shooting with Rani and Shahid on 17 July. "I've already started rehearsing. Do I play cricket in the film. My lips are sealed. Do I have item songs in the film? Hmmmmm…That would be telling.

But yes I don't have just one dance. I've three dances in this film choreographed by the one and only Vaibhavi Merchant. They're not just ordinary item songs.

And I'm being dressed up by the king himself Manish Malhotra. I'm so excited about working with him."

So will Rakhi be playing cricket along with Rani in this film about women's cricket?

Turning demure Rakhi purrs, "Darling if I reveal everything now why will you pay money to see the film when it's released?

All I know is, that the offer came to me without any lobbying. They saw my item song in Krazzy 4. I guess they liked what they saw. All the credit goes to Jesus Christ, Mother Mary, Shani Bhagwan and Ganpati. These are the four pillars of my destiny.

Nothing in my life has come easily to me. But now I'm very happy with my life. Thank you, junta. And thank you, media. Main media ki beti hoon."

The Complan Boy and the Complan Girl

Small kids have always been a favorite with advertisers since time immemorial. After all, your heart immediately melts when you see a small child talking about his / her favorite product. Two such kids (one a small good-looking boy and the other a cute little girl) were seen many years ago in one of the most popular commercials for a popular health and energy drink - Complan. While the boy proudly exclaimed “I am a Complan Boy” even the girl was not one to be left behind and said “I am a Complan girl”. The ad is still etched in our memories but what's interesting is that today that very good-looking boy and cute girl are among the teen heartthrobs of the nation.

Yes we are indeed talking about the super cool Shahid Kapoor and the glamorous Ayesha Takia. Years after they did the Complan commercial together, Shahid and Ayesha have managed to make a mark for themselves in the big, bad world of Bollywood. What's more, the duo was even romantically paired opposite each other in films like Dil Maange More and Fool-N-Final. They would also be seen in Ahmed Khan's forthcoming film Paathshala.

And just in case you are wondering what happened to the Complan, well one look at Shahid and Ayesha's respective debut films (Ishq Vishk and Socha Na Tha) and you'll surely agree that it was only Ayesha on whom the Complan actually worked.

Akshay Kumar jumps off Bangkok’s tallest building

Could there ever be a better host for the Indian version of 'Fear Factor' than Akshay Kumar, the Bollywood synonym for daredevilry?
Akki flew to Bangkok, the city that taught him a few lessons in Oriental Cuisine, to show Thailand what he had learnt in Bollywood. He jumped off the tallest skyscraper of the city, and skated all the way down through thin air!
This Khiladi stunt was caught on camera and will be part of the promotional film on the Indian version of ‘Fear Factor’, to be aired on COLORS TV, premiering in July 2008. Shot on the lines of a Bollywood movie trailer, the promo flick gives a foretaste of what is to hit the small screen as ‘Fear Factor Khatron Ke Khiladi’.

Says Akshay: “With something as crazy and exciting like ‘Fear Factor Khatron Ke Khiladi’ you have got to start at Bangkok. I truly enjoyed being on skate board, straddled between two of the tallest buildings in Thailand - just to give a preview of the show to my viewers. It sounds easy on paper, just take a look for yourself and enjoy the ride with me. You don’t have to be a daredevil to enjoy this show - it’s packed with me of course, but also with love, friendships, deadly stunts and a lot of fun.”
Rameet Arora, Marketing Head, COLORS, says, “This film for ‘Fear Factor Khatron Ke Khiladi’ represents drama that will be unmistakably different. Setting the tone for a ‘never seen before’ campaign, you can look forward to a unique synergy between Bollywood and television. And that too, with India’s favourite action hero & television entertainment. It’s an un-missable start.”

‘Fear Factor - Khatron Ke Khiladi’ takes the game show to the highest level of physical and mental challenge, making it more gritty and edgy than ever before. Another attraction of ‘FEAR FACTOR - Khatron ke Khiladi’ is going to be the 13 Bollywood beauties, who’ll compete with each other, to be the last-lass-standing: Yaana Gupta, Aditi Govtrikar, Pooja Bedi, Sonali Kulkarni, Anita Hasnandani, Meghna Naidu, Tapur Chatterjee, Tupur Chatterjee, Nethra Raghuraman, Anjana Sukhani, Dipannita Sharma, Vidya Malvade and Urvashi Sharma. The show will be shot entirely in South Africa, over a period of one month and is being produced by Endemol India, one of India’s finest production houses.

Shilpa learns violin for The Man

Actress-cum-yoga guru Shilpa Shetty is now learning to play the violin for her role in Sunny Deol's The Man

"I have to play the violin in The Man and to make it look real, I am taking lessons. Trust me, it is very difficult to play the violin. I am having a tough time. My instructor tells me that it is the most difficult instrument to play and he is quite right," said Shilpa in a press statement.

Although Shilpa is finding her lessons tough, her instructor Sandeep, who is based in Goa, says he is impressed with her sincerity.

"Every evening after pack up, Shilpa takes two hour lessons to play the violin. She is shaping up to be a very dedicated student," he stated.

In The Man, Shilpa Shetty is portraying a girl who rises to instant global stardom - very similar to her real life experience.

"Her character has an interesting side to it - she is a violin expert just like pop sensation Vanessa Mae. Her violin playing portions in the film have been styled just like a Vanessa Mae video. Since Shilpa wanted to lend authenticity to her character, she decided to learn to play the violin," a source close to the actress stated.

The actress was last seen in Life... In a Metro.

John lacks Aashayein!

John Abraham John Abraham is back in Mumbai after a long schedule of Dostana in Miami and is still finding it difficult to make some time to promote his film Aashayein.

The film which was supposed to have released on May 9 but was postponed to June 20, is now scheduled to release on September 12!

If sources are to be believed, the film was postponed since the producers wanted to avoid any sort of clash with films like Love Story 2050 and Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na. Also Yash Raj’s Bachna Eh Haseeno is set to release in August and considering the film might eat into the business of Aashayein, the film was further pushed to September!

An industry insider told us, “John is not keen on promoting the film, since it is not finding ample takers, given its serious subject. Besides John’s previous off beat films have not done exceedingly well at the box office either. No Smoking, Zinda, Baabul, Salaam-E-Ishq and even Goal failed to create Dhoom at the box office when compared to his debut film Dhoom!”

“People have always liked John in a glamorous role and Aashayein will not see him like that. John too is apprehensive about the film to a certain extent revealed a close friend of John’s too.

But it’s not just the actor or the producers who have been dodging the film for a while, even director Nagesh Kukunoor has decided to concentrate on his next film Bemisal which stars newcomer and former Miss India 2005 Sindura Gadde.

“Nagesh has already started the pre production work for Bemisal and is giving all the attention to it. Seems like he has even stopped bothering about Aashayein, since it has been delayed a little too long”, said a unit hand of Bemisal.

All we can suggest to Nagesh and John right now is to have some hope for their film which is titled Aashayein!

Love Story 2050 - Movie Review

Love Story 2050 - Movie Review

Director: Harry Baweja
Cast: Harman Baweja, Priyanka Chopra, Boman Irani
Rating: 1/5

Picture this. It’s 2050. The world’s transformed into a screensaver. There are airborne automobiles all over but filmmakers continue to build castles (read movies) in air. Robots have substituted companionship and are not just implanted with artificial intelligence but also embedded with fake feelings. Humankind emerge from holograms as customer care executives and you literally feel like calling for help. The heroine is red-headed but the director wins an empty-headed tag for serving us with a no-brainer. Product brands of today manage to survive four decades down the line and perhaps so will the standard of scripts that refuse to show any signs of upgrading.

Picture this. It’s 2006. Filmmaker Harry Baweja considers making a science fiction but assumes that the audience is too inexperienced to accept the genre unconditionally. So he manipulates an obsolete love story believing that the viewer would now digest the assorted subject more willingly. And in his flawed hypothesis he ends up with a muddled mess which is something between a lackluster love story and a semi-science-fiction. Add to it, neither appeals!

Picture this. It’s 2008. Harman Baweja attempts to make a dashing debut (literally) as he bangs his father’s swanky car. Daddy dear is a business tycoon who has no time for his motherless son Karan (Harman). Now how many times have we seen such banal bonding before? Nevertheless, real-life father Harry Baweja has all the time to launch his son (again literally, through flying cars) in a futuristic film which unfortunately isn’t ahead of its time.

The Story:
Karan meets Sana (Priyanka Chopra), chases, dates and sings with her, gets separated and reunites and attempts every possible act to stretch the screenplay till the interval. The director has dedicatedly devoted the first half merely for the love story. 2050 appears only in the second half where the techno-savvy world comprises of touch-screen gadgets and perhaps India is again ruled by foreigners as most inhabitants of Mumbai resemble firangs .

Sana dies in the first half and our hero is pretty sure that she will be reborn in 2050. His scientist uncle (Boman Irani) who is a confused combination of an astrologer-cum-astronomer reaffirms his faith. Uncle Frankenstein has designed a time machine which transports them into future. Sana is Zeisha now and suddenly the modern day sci-fi takes an ancient Bollywood turn with the reincarnation theme. This Karan has no Arjun but with just one song he rekindles memories of past life in his lifeless romance with Sana.

Meanwhile the director also inserts an archetypal villain though he chooses to keep his face covered for reasons unknown. This faceless bad man looks like the first cousin of Mogambo and suspiciously sounds like Gulshan Grover. Is Grover resorting to barely dubbing for films or did the director midways mistake his film to be an animation attempt? Expectedly, the villain is in search of the time machine which assures a climax combat with the hero.

The screenplay grilled by multiple writers is a clear case of too many cooks spoil the broth. The first half is long-drawn-out with a lousy love story while scenes are specially written in the second half only to accommodate brand endorsements. The special effects aren’t shoddy but not of the exceptional variety either. However that doesn’t affect much as the effects are almost relegated to the background while the romance takes preventable prominence. Moreover the visual graphics remind of several Hollywood films like The Fifth Element, Total Recall and The Star Wars series. Also the villain’s vicious intentions are clearly derived from Krrish .

Performances:
Of the performances, Boman Irani hams hysterically. Priyanka Chopra overdoes the Pooh image to irksome effect. Archana Puran Singh repeats her Punjabi act for the zillionth time. Harman Baweja, intentionally or unintentionally, has a strong Hrithik Roshan hangover in his looks, performance, body-language, mannerisms, action, dancing and dialogue delivery but surprisingly it works to his advantage. In the pre-climax party scene he also derives a lot in his act from Shah Rukh Khan. But a confident charm works to his merit.

Verdict:
Through the film, Harman keeps repeating a line ‘I don’t need luck, I have love’. Perhaps an overdose of love will surely make him seek some luck, now.

Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na | Movie Review | First On Net

Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na Movie Review First On Net

The common question comes to mind when aamir khan is producing a film will be, how the movie is going to be? Coming to jaane tu ya jaane na, will it live up to the expectations?

Story:

While Jaane Tu is Imran’s debut vehicle, it is really Genelia who steals the show. The actress is a real livewire on screen and conveys those annoying feelings of jealousy, confusion, irritability and fake happiness without any problem.

Within the gang, who sport very Bombay nicknames such as Rats (Jai), Meow (Aditi), Bombs (Sandhya), Jiggy (Jignesh), the guys fare much better than the girls. Jiggy delights as the Gujju while Rotlu and Bombs together are smashing as the couple who discover each other as soul mates when left solo by their crushes, Jai and Aditi.

Supporting cast members like Ratna Pathak Shah as Jai’s mum, Paresh Rawal as the police inspector, Naseeruddin Shah, as Jai’s dead Rajput father who speaks from his portrait hold, fort magnificently.

Even the sub-plot of Jai’s rite of passage as a true male Rathore from Ranjhore family by fulfilling three conditions - beating up a person, spending time in jail and riding a horse - is largely saved and made palatable by way of the safe casting of the Shahs and Arbaaz and Sohail Khan, who appear as Rathore boys in the guise of dancing cowboys.

On a whole jaane tu ya jaane na is a lovely cute movie honestly.
Its not a story which never heard or seen but then just like aamir said, It does revive good old college days and bring us a nice love story..

Performances:
Coming to acting, every character has performed well enough.
Debutant Imran looks cool and acting is admirable.
I am not too much in favour of genelia but still she was good in the movie...
It's a love story we all have seen earlier as well. But Abbas Tyrewala made it in such a way that movie looks fresh and touching.

Music: was as expected and well picturized. Thanks to Rehman. Imran would surely notch up a hit with this debut. The movie will surely have a decent opening.

Overall a sweet movie..
