The Heart of Dixie, Alabama is the thirtieth largest state in United States situated in the Southeastern region. The other states surrounding Alabama are, Gerogia, Florida, Tennessee and Mississippi. The members of Muskogean speaking tribe who lived near the Tallapoosa and Coosa Rivers were known as the Alabama. People believe that the word Alabama came from the Choctaw language. But the sources get confused when it comes to the meaning of Alabama. The originated ideas about the meaning by the experts so far are here we rest, clearers of the thicket and herb gatherers.
The total land area of the Yellowhammer state is 52,423 square miles and 3.19% of this land is water. The North of Alabama is mostly filled with mountains and the beautiful Tennessee River which increased the beauty of Alabama with lots of streams, mountains and lakes. Alabama has a humid subtropical climate containing hot summers and mild winters. It is known as one of the hottest states in the United States in summers. But the winter is mild with a less frequent amount of snowfall.
